QIC-80 Multiple Tape Span Problem

I have an old QIC-80 backup that spans 8 tapes.
The second tape has snapped. I fixed it, but
the drive doesn't want to read it anymore.

Now, I can't restore the data from tapes 3-8
becaue the backup software (Microsoft Backup from
Windows 98SE) insists on reading the header
from each tape to to create a "temporary catalog".

How can I simply extract the files from tapes 3-8?
Without needing tape 2. Mind you, tape 1 is fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
