I found this old thread by using a Google search and I'm hoping that the earlier contributors might come to my rescue.A year or two ago I bought an HP Colorado 8GB tape drive for my P-133 computer on which I'm running Windows 95.
I suffer from significant cognitive impairment from a chronic illness and I've never been able to figure out how to properly use the HP Back-up II software that came with the tape drive. So I just did a disaster recovery set when I first installed the drive and then a daily "one button back-up" ever since.
Well, I had a system crash last week, and I tried to use the disaster recovery routine but all it did was replace all my system folders with EMPTY folders.
I'm having a hard time making much sense out the the user's guide and now the product is out of warranty so I'm hoping you guys might be able to tell me where I could find some help.
What I need is a set of simple, easy to follow instructions that tell me how to make my daily back-ups.
And another set of simple, step-by-step instructions that tell me what to do when my system crashes.
The users guide has pages and pages of text in HTML files, but I find it to be overwhelming, and I'm having a hard time digging out the info I need.
Is there a forum, newsgroup, mailing list, or the like, that is devoted to system back-up issues?
P.S. I'm not sure I'll be able to figure out how to find this forum again to check for a reply, so I'd be grateful to any respondents if you would cc: your reply to me at:
