When the bios cannot recogise the floppies properly, it is almost always some problem with the cable. It is either defective or it is installed incorrectly. It is possible that the TD is defective, but this is unlikely. This problem has to be fixed before the backup software will work.
BTW - If you changed from Win31 to Win95 you have to get a Win95 backup software. The old one will not work. If you are using Win98, the Win98 backup app should work with your TD.
