: : I've been told DEC's TLZ06 DAT tape drive is a conner ctd4004 drive with manufacturer id reprogrammed.?
: : Can anyone out there confirm this?
: : And tell me where drivers to handle such a device to operate with win'98 backup applet properly, can be found?
: : Any help will be wellcomed.
: : Thanx.

: Try DATMAN which makes a 4mm (and most 8mm) tape drive behave like a disk.

A TLZ06 is the same as an Archive xxxx (odds on favorite: 4324), the TLZ07 is the same as an Archive 4326. I have one (TLZ06) running on 95, didn't need a driver, 95 recognized it on powerup.

Not sure about 98 but I would think that 98 would detect it properly, also, and could back it up (well maybe not because it's older technology). Mediocre support from M/S anyway.

I run it with Seagate Backup. I am going to try DATMAN on the TLZ06/TLZ07 and the Sony SDT5000/SDT7000.
