: I have installed the tape drive on an NT Server as directed by Seagate. All the appropriate services start and backup commences normally. Halfway through the backup the system freezes without any event or errors logged. Friends have advised me it is a hardware problem. Checked SCSI termination, cabling, transfer rate set to minimum but no luck so far.

: Any ideas will be appreciated.

Hmm, interesting.
- I suppose you have disabled *all* screensavers and power-saving stuff as well as "smart agents running when the system is ideling", defrag etc.
- Are you backing up a local or remote disk?
- Have you disabled network access to the server during backup in case of a local backup? I'm thinking of a deadlock scenario.
- What backup s/w and t/d are you using?
