I have the same problem using Windows XP, but did not have any problems with Win2K using the same hardware. The problem occurs after swapping back to Windows from games like Half-Life and Quake3 Arena using OpenGL. Exiting some of the Soundblaster programs (taskbar and remote control) sometimes make the system work OK, but not always. I've just checked Creative's site, and there is an update available which I haven't tried yet (will do that soon).
