The motherboard will also have a particular chipset that controls the North and South bridges, and an EEPROM that has the BIOS loaded in it. Look on the board for a large square chip (sometimes covered with a heatsink - 1" to 1.5" on each side). It is probably the largest chip besides the CPU. The name on the chip will tell you what drivers you need to install. For example, A-Trend used to make motherboards with the Intel 440BX chipset and use the Award BIOS. Mine uses a VIA chipset. Anyway, make sure that you install the newest BIOS for the motherboard and the latest drivers for the chipset. Then your PCI bridge should come to life.

: I put a system together for my son. Everything works great except the pci slots. In the control panel, I have yellow question marks on the files "pci bridge" and "pci multimedia audio device". The motherboard was made by A-trend which does not exist anymore as far as I can tell. The processor is AMD Duron 950 mhz. The OS is win98. I have looked online and can't seem to find anything that will work. I can not add a modem to this system without the use of the pci slots??? can anyone help me find something that will work for this system?
