I have the same problem please someone help!
I get the error when i try to play Hitman codename 47 and sometimes alien vs predator.

my system:amd k6 350,128ram,tnt2 m64 grafics card,diamond sonic impact s90 soundcard,win 98 se,directx 8.

when i run the diagnostic tool for directX and go to the sound tab it says that asp4wave.vxd is not certified. don't know if this is of any importance
