: : : : Downloaded XP compatible driver for Mustek 1200CP from Mustek website. And now when I have it installed, my computer continuously fails on restart. Have to start up the computer in safe mode and uninstall the driver in order to get the computer functioning properly again.

: : : : The technical help from the Mustek website is absolutely no help at all. Has anyone else been able to get it to work?

: : :
: : : Well, i didn`t. My driver (web.*) doesn`t work even in w2k (it works, but stretches all images). Mustek coders suxx :(

: : : But, speakin about xp - why not to try this:
: : : 1. From the "Start" Menu, select "Run ..." and run "Regedit.exe", the registry editor.
: : : 2. Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion, change "ProductName"'s value from "Microsoft Windows XP" to "Microsoft Windows
: : : 2000".
: : : 3. Install the Windows 2000 driver.
: : : 4. After a successful installation, please restore your original settings in Regedit.

: : Tried it. My computer still fails whenever I reboot or try to use the scanner with the either driver (2000 or XP) installed.

: Well, I have a similar problem: i downloaded and installed the drivers for XP and the scanner isn't recognized by XP anyway. Can you help me??

I have the exact same problem. Downloaded Mustek's XP drivers (four file set because single file one was dead link). Went through the exact proceedure outlined by Mustek Tech Support, uninstall, reboot, unplug scanner, reinstall, reboot, plug in scanner. NOTHING! Tried adding as imaging device from control panel. NOTHING! Tried updating driver in program mangler. NOTHING! Tried runing a Y2K manual driver install. Still nothing. Auto install is no good because no drivers available at Bill's Palace. XP doesn't recognize .exe files as a place where it can find .inf for a driver! I'm at my wits end with this. Yet another email to Mustek Tech Support... Could it be that Mustek's 1200CP is NOT XP Compatible?! I'd sure hate to have to buy another scanner just to work with XP Professional. Anybody who has successfully installed 1200CP on XP should win the Nobel Prize for tenacity! But if you have figured out the BIG secret, please tell the rest of how!
