: I encountered the same problem when I upgraded my Intel PII-400 to a new motherboard with an AMD Athlon XP 1400+ but never came up with a solution. I eventually eneded up buying a new scanner with a USB interface for my upgraded P.C. and donated my old scanner to my mother-in-law who owned an older p.c. I just thought you might want to know you are not alone with this problem and you did not 'zap' your card. I think it is a compatibility problem between the old card and the newer motherboards.

: : I have a Scantak 2c which was working fine before I swapped my disks into a faster box with a different motherboard, processor, etc. Now, I get a wierd post beep sequence, which I have interpretted as a clash with video memory. (Award Bios, long and 2 short beeps, followed by a string of higher-frequency beeps until the machine is turned off. ) It is possible that I zapped the card, although I don't think so. Another scsi card works OK in the same slot, allowing me to see a Syquest 135 meg. HD. HELP.
: : I am thinking there must be a way to reserve the right memory before anything else goes on during bootup. Who has actually pulled this off?
