I upgraded to "XP", but had to reinstall many programs to get them to work. I did this with the PrecisionScan software that came with my H 5100C. When I hooked up the scanner, XP would boot to the desktop and then reboot automatically seconds later. This started a looping action that I couldn't get rid of until I unhooked the scanner altogether.

I have since learned that "XP" has included some scanning software that should be compatible with my 5100C, but when I tried to install it in XP without the PrecisionScan software, I got the same "looping" problem.

When I disconnected the scanner after first unsuccessful attempt to install, I tried to remove the software (PrecisionScan), but XP wouldn't let me do it cleanly. I think there may be some files from the original software that were not uninstalled, and this is interferring with my attempt to use the XP software.
Can anyone tell me how to identify and then manually remove these files?
