No, it doesn't. YES, you have to. UMAX scanners are ABSOLUTE TRASH. Hundreds of people have problems with them, green and yellow lines appearing over scans, sometimes they work, sometimes Windows cannot find them, if you try to scan something more than once, your PC hangs or restarts, ... Simply there is no solution and UMAX refuses any advices on these scanners (not only for WinXP) (although I've never tried their support). All you'll find on their web is "parallel port scanners are not supported any more"!. Is this normal? I don't think so. UMAX scanners are TRASH! Don't buy them! Throw them better out!!!!!!!!! Never more.
