Seen it!..yep its not pretty..I get around it by reducing the dots per inch until the size of the file is less than 1 Megabyte. Or if you must have the high resolution, you might switch to greyscale and then recolor as needed. Finally, If you are really desperate for that high resolution color scan, try scanning the picture with several smaller scans. Oh, you can also change the overall scale to 25%--it helps alot, then scale up in your picture prog..good luck!
