: Hi guys. I've just spent a whole week getting my scanjet 5p to work in win98SE! But still got problems. However, don't know if this will help; Deskscan II v.2.9 told me "scanner accessed by another application or scanner turned off". Didn't matter what I did from all the instructions at the HP site. Nothing worked. So in disgust I downloaded and installed PrecisionScan which is supposed to take the place of Deskscan and Paperport programs. Well, it fixed the Deskscan problem!??? Deskscan now works normally (when the SCSI driver stays installed!). Paperport opens normally but can't communicate with the scanner and PrecisionScan wont open on its main program; but the copy utility works ok. Weired!! I tried to download PrecisionScan again but the link was broken at that time. Any ideas?
: If win98 freezes, it takes me 3 reboots to get it running because I have to reset the IRQ-less SCSI driver. Crazy! Any help gratefully received. Cheers! John

PS:When I open PrecisionScan, I now get error message "No scanning sources were found. Reinstall scanning software." [2053]
Done this about 6 times with no effect.

What was the information HP sent you on system not finding the scanner Paul? It might help us all. Cheers! John
