You should go into control panel and then printers and under the File menu select Add Printer. The Add Printer wizard will appear. Click Next, select the first option (local printer) and make sure that Automatically detect and install... is not checked. Click Next and select LPT1: as the port. Again click Next and select Star on the left and then find LC-10 on the right hand side. You may be asked for your Windows XP CD.
This was my first printer and I must admit I was a bit surprised to find that Microsoft are still supporting such old printers as this! I've since moved onto a HP inkjet and I'm now using a Canon photo printer so I've never tried the old LC-10 to see if it works on my current XP Home system.
