Choose Printers from The Start->Settings menu.

Choose Add printer.

Follow the dialogue. Choose local and LPT1 for the port. For the printer type, you can choose have disk and install from the floppies you got with your printer, or you can choose HP Deskjet 600c from the list and let win98 load the driver. HP claims that the driver is included in the win98 OS. I believe I have added a designjet before using the OS driver and there are drivers included, but I don't think you get the Deskjet Utilities. Therefore, you will not be able to align or clean the print cartridges. It might be better to load the driver from your floppies. You can try both ways.

I believe the message you are getting to goto the Win95 Program manager is just a generic message. They are not checking for what operating system you are on. The word Win95 is hard coded into the message.
