Hello Giny,

How's life in Amsterdam today? I'm in Florida and today was a gorgeous day.

Re: your printer and scanner...I have experienced the same problem.
Try disregarding what the scanner said about running the printer cable to the scanner and then to the computer, o.k?
Now try this...you will need a USB cable and a parallel cable...this is the only way my scanner and printer will both work...you need a separate cable for each one.
If your scanner has a port for the USB cable, then plug the USB cable into the scanner and then the other end into your computer USB port. And then go to the "install new hardware screen." You will find that program on your control panel screen. Go through the steps to install the scanner(imaging device) and when you get to the correct screen where it asks if you have a "disk" for installing the scannner put the disk in your drive, click the option, and then click on that drive letter and let the software install the scanner.

Next, plug in the parallel cable into the back of the printer, and the other end of the cable into the parallel port of your computer. Then go through the same installation process that you did with the scanner above.

Important!!! First, remove all traces of the scanner and printer off your hard drive!!!! You may already know how to do this, but one way is to go to your control panel screen and click on the "system icon." Then click on the option "device manager" and look for your scanner and printer on the list of devices and highlight them and remove them. Then go to your "find files or folders" screen and type in the name of your scanner, and do a searh for it..whatever comes up re: the scanner, remove it...then do the same search for your printer, and remove all traces.

Then!!!! Turn your computer off. Then turn it back on and go through the installation process I described above.

Printers are very "touchy." Very seldom can you successfully connect anything between the printer and the computer using just one cable...depends on the scanner and printer though sometimes.

Try this procedure, and hopefully it will work. Let me know...I am glad to offer any help.

Joe
