I'm having problems getting my HP Deskjet 400 printer working with the supplied driver from Microsoft for use with XP (Home Edition).

The printer woks fine on my old Windows 98 machine, but not on the new XP box.

It prints about half a page or less then hangs and a windows error says simply 'Print unsuccessful'.

I've tried loading the XP supplied Deskjet 300 and 600 drivers as well but with the same result. I've also tried the HP site for a download but it says that the only available drivers are included on the shipped XP disk - there are no others available.

The printer is connected via LPT1 with the same cable etc as used on the old 98 machine.

Any help would be much appreciated.
