Ah... an update. It wasn't the driver but the printer. Yes, a bona fide hardware failure on the printer's mobo. The printer is dead, long live the new printer. Motto: Don't always be too quick to blame software.

: Colour printing (photo & graphics) has always been excellent on my 895 Cxi up till my upgrade to XP on 25 October. The 'upgrade' was a clean install and is very good, so far.

: Now my graphics are heavily banded laterally, almost a scored look. Photos are very poor, poorer than my old 500C.

: Installing the HP 2000 driver produced no benefit, in fact my PC can't print to it from various programs (not recognised)although it will produce a test page oddly enough, showing that it can ! Is this because the Win 2000 driver is not USB capable?

: I've changed the ink cartridges but exactly the same results come out.

: HP suggest it might be hardware related but this I doubt, too much like coincidence. (A 'hardware' Plextor problem proved to due to a MS hotfix ).

: Any ideas? I feel this ought to be a straightforward issue and I'm pretty convinced it's a driver issue.
