HP Deskjet 680C and Win98

I have just purchased a new Pentium III computer.
I have kept my older Pentium I computer. My HP
Deskjet 680C works perfectly with the older
Pentium I computer (Win95), but refuses to operate
properly with the new computer (Win98). The
printer is not shared or networked (I physically
move and reconnect the printer if I need to print
from the other printer - not an ideal situation,
but I'd like to just leave it connected to the
newer computer).

I have downloaded the latest Win 98 driver
software from the HP website, but it refuses
to operate correctly. The communications test
indicates that it is communicating properly, but
I can only print graphics in shades of gray, or
in dark magenta. The inks are okay - I confirmed
that the printer itself is working fine by moving
it back to the older computer - everything prints
just great.

Has anyone here encounted this problem or have any
idea what might be wrong? Are there any physical
(DIP) switches that must be changed to operate
under Win98?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Karl
