Hi! I just happened to run across your message during a search for the 1270, which I am considering buying. I am using the Canoscan FS2710, and indeed the image is small. Although I am using the Epson Stylus Color 740, I suspect the following comments will probably work, since they are largely device independent. I load the image into Photoshop 5.5 for editing, and when I resize the image (IMAGE|ADJUST|IMAGE SIZE), I set about 300 dpi in RESOLUTION under PRINT SIZE. Make sure that CONSTRAIN PROPORTIONS and RESAMPLE IMAGE are both checked, and then enter the maximum width or height you want to print. Check to make sure the other dimension fits the paper. Then in FILE|PAGE SETUP, make sure that Landscape or Portrait mode is appropriately checked, go into the PAPER tab and make sure that CENTERED is checked and under general you have the appropriate paper type and resolution chosen. The file size is not nearly so big when you print. If you're not using Photoshop, other programs generally have similar ways to constrain file size by reducing resolution of the enlarged image (e.g., PhotoDeluxe).
