I have the same problem and have found a fix which works for me:
When i logon to my network as soon as possible disable my LAN connection, this stops the resource hogging dead in its tracks. I then enable the LAN connection again and everything is back to normal
Still hoping to fix the problem though as doing this after every restart is a real pain.

: I have found that the spoolsv.exe file slowly builds size until all memory is gone and you have to reboot, then after a few hours (depending on your resources and available disk space) the same thing... I have not found a fix, and the other replies were worthless in my situation, so i thought I would share my workaround.

: Following are instructions on writing a batch file that will start and stop your print spool service, which must be done in order to keep your resources out of threshold capacity.

: 1)Open 'My Computer' and click on 'Tools' then 'Folder Options' and click the 'View' tab. Make sure that 'Hide extensions of known file types' is NOT checked (VERY IMPORTANT)

: 2) Right click on the desktop and choose 'New' then 'Text Document' name it start.bat
: 3) Right click the new file and choose 'edit'
: 4) Type net start spooler and close, saving the entry you just typed
: 5) Make another batch file, except name it close.bat. Edit close.bat with net stop spooler and close the file, saving the contents
: When I need to print something I use start.bat, and then use stop.bat as soon as the job is finished. Thank Bill Gates and his billions for his lackadiasical approach to Os's. Linux is far better, but I have to use MS at work

: Hope this helps you
