I have a Presario 5304 and yes, while I do agree with Colin (that it is definitley a budget box) for the money, it's not a bad computer. For gaming, any Cyrix chip stinks. Just not enough gusto in the Cyrix chip - but then again, Cyrix isn't designed for gaming, just standard word processing and spreadsheet type of apps.

As far as the 128M limit, I upgraded mine today (1/17/03) to 256. I have 3 DIMM slots, 2 with 64MB, 100Mhz, Synch chips and 1 with a 128MB, 100Mhz, Synch chip. Works great! Apps load faster and seems to boot quicker than before.

I do know that if you mix chip speeds, you'll get problems. Jon Davidsom mentioned that his 256MB chip[ was seen as a 128MB. A friend of mine tried to upgrade her Presario (newer than 5304) with a 128MB DIMM at 133 Mhz, when it needed a 100Mhz chip.

These PC's take the PC100 chip, so be sure to ask for a 100Mhz, Synchronized chip for the Presario 53XX family. Should run smooth for the money.
