: can anyone help me? i constantly get errormessages like blue screen error- messages concerning VMM.VXD, vcache.VXD when i try the DirectX test in dxdiag.exe...I resently formatted my harddisk and tried to install win 98, and i wish i never did. i think it`s a directX driver problem or something...can somebody fix my problem? the problems also appears when i try to install games like motocross madness and other stuff....
are you getting the blue screen errors randomly or just when you run dxdiag.exe and try to install other stuff???
if your getting blue screen errors all the time then STOP installing other stuff, your just making the problem worse!
Do a search on your computer and see if you can find those files, and remember the location of them and the file sizes of each. Post a followup to this post and tell me all that info so that i can properly help you.
when you formatted your hard disk, did you do it in DOS or under a software package?
did you have a virus scanner going when you installed win98?
did you choose to save old configuration when you installed win98?? its a 50mb file. if so then just uninstall it threw that file and you'll go back to your old config.
what speed is your processor?
how much RAM do you have?
what size hard drive do you have?
post a followup to this post answering all these questions. i check this board daily so i can help you as soon as you repost.
