Hello,

I've got this problem:
I have to retrieve from the Ethernet card MAC HW address,
and I made that by the following C line-code:

ioctl(s,SIOCGIFHWADDR,&ifr);

but this value can be modified by software with the following
commands:
ifconfig eth0 down
ifconfig eth0 hw ether 00:00:AA:BB:CC:DD
ifconfig eth0 up
and now by that line-code the output MAC Address is aabbccdd (which is not equal to real HW Address)

Why? Is it a way to retrieve from the Ethernet card MAC HW address not changable by software ?

Thanks,
Best Regards,
Pasquale Lambardi
