The failure of PCMCIA networking on a Presario 1200 laptop with Windows 2000 is a well-known problem.

Despite the ROM update with the latest Compaq softpaq (#SP20073) and installing Service Pack #2 for Windows 2000, it still doesn't work on my 12XL403.

The commonly proposed solution is to enter the Phoenix BIOS configuration and disable the SOUND BLASTER setting (but not the ONBOARD PCI AUDIO thing!).

And here is the problem: when I press the F10 key to enter setup just after the PC started, the configuration menu doesn't show any option related to sound. The only configurable device is the parallel port (which default settings are /enabled/irq7/dma3).

Could someone tell how to find the sound device setting please?

Thank you for your time. Regards,
