I'm having the same problem with my ECS K7S5A motherboard with onboard sis900 lan adapter. (I think that my error message read EERPOM instead of EEPROM). I've tried many things, but no luck, the adapter never 'boots' properly.

: : I bought a m810lmr motherboard which include a builtin sis900 chip. however when i am trying to load the sis900 network module i recieve error > eth0: Error EEPROM read: 0 .btw i am connecting the linux with my notebook(win 2k os) through a crossover cat5 cable. when i do ifconfig on linux my network card is not recognized.
: : what is the problem?
