I recently was given older computer equipment including old ISA Intel Ethernet cards and since I have been pondering a simple home ethernet setup I decided to install the cards. Here's the problem:

On my main system (PII 350MHz 384MB RAM on a PcChips M726MRT mainboard), the install was quick and painless.
For a 2nd system, I used my old mainboard (FuguTech version of M912 486VL) and an AMD 80486SL @ 133MHz cpu w/ 48MB RAM. I can't get the ethernet card to work. I have configured it correctly and I see the Intel software setup is good at boot but it hangs. When I boot w/ option to load each driver and system file and bypass anything that is net related (vnetbios.vxd, ndis.vxd, etc,...) it will boot but message box shows that card is not configured correctly. I've also seen some wierd stuff (wavy line at bottom of boot screen moves rapidly) and system hangs because of unreliable XMS memory (I've used several different 30 pin and 72 pin SIMM's and take very good care not to damage these). Any help would be appreciated and sorry for writing a novel but need to include everything.
Thank you
