Two separate NIC for TCP/IP networks

Can anyone say for sure if Win95 or Win98 support two
separate NIC clients for two separate TCP/IP networks?
We understand Win2000 would be the ideal, but...
Our school district must keep AS/400 network separate
from new, serverless T1 Internet connection. We have
3Com cards for the AS/400 and NetGear cards for the T1.
No problem using either, and can set-up and use both
during set-up without conflict. Problem is: with Win95,
we get Windows Protection Error at start-up when both
cards are installed. As workaround, I have set-up two
hardware configurations, each with one card disabled.
Any help very much appreciated.
Thank you all,
Carter
