I'm just setting up a peer-to-peer n/w with 2 8029 cards & having similar problems. When you reboot in DOS, it says that it can't find the card. I got past this by checking the I/O address in W98 device manager (E800 in my case) and then running A:\SETUP\E32init.exe IO=E800" from the DOS prompt before running the SETUP diagnostics. That got me further - I even got the 2 machines talking through the diags package, but I still haven't cracked Win98-Win95 communication! Keep trying....
