: : Well, I found a site with the instructions of installing the win2000 driver for 4060
: : http://www.hardwarezone.com/ubb/Forum20/HTML/002074.html: : However, I followed the steps, but when I try to dial it, it gave me an error message from the modem. :(
:
: am using it right now. box is win2k pro, Efficient Networks Speedstream 4060, bellsouth fastaccess in Tuscaloosa, AL.: The problems y'all are having are probably related to your pvc info; the device is running atm, and you need to tell it what its pvc is. if you still have it functional under 98, you can get that info from the little speed stream icon in your task bar. (it has a debug mode; go to bellsouth's support page for instructions on how to get into it.)
: After I gave mine the right PVC, it lit right up.
: : Is there any other way to install the driver?
What is a PVC? I have the same problem - BellSouth does not have any knowledgeable staff
and have no clue as to what is going on. The best thing to do is cancel their service and go w/a DSL provider that uses equipment and software that is ACTUALLY tested! Alcatel (Efficient) needs to close their doors for business as their programmers and engineers are third rate. BS needs to stop their worthless DSL service and stick to phone service. I had the displeasure of being a contractor for them and was disgusted at their incompetent employees. What a worthless bunch! They worry about "image" only. Being helpful should mean being knowledgable, not being an "airhead". I'm sure of you monkey with software for hours on end, you will eventually get something to work. This is inexcusable! (but typical).
I would prefer a knowledgeable person with no social skills (even a bad attitude) over a brainless (but cheerful) dingbat (like BS support employees) any day.
Cancel your service and go with another ISP - maybe a few million lost customers will make them change their policies to provide support instead of BS (pun intended).
