: : Anyone know why win98 would say the card is working properly, but won't communicate with the network? (no conflicts of any kind that i can find) The link is good and the activity light shows it's trying to, but i can't log on....the card is brand new so i don't know what would be causing it. any help would be appreciated.

: You said it won't log on, what is it doing instead? If everything looks good in System properties (no conflicts) then you still need to configure network properties (add the clients and protocols) Make sure it is set to Log on using MS Client (or Netware) write back or email me and tell me what exactly it is doing (other than not logging on)

It attempts to log on (to a NT server) but it comes up with the Microsoft Networking messege "No domain server available to validate your password. You may not be able to gain access to some network resources." It then gives the option to click "OK" or "Cancel".
Screwy thing is, the other computer in the room connects just fine (whether i use a hub or plug the individual cables into the wall socket). I have all necessary protocols and the latest drivers for the card. There is one setting (which appears to possibly conflict) I can't change -- the irq -- because windows will not let me change it manually. does this help clarify it further?
