there are several ways. the cleanest way is to get a splitter for the phone line, split one cable to the line-in on the fax, and split one cable to the line-in on the computer. now the fax signal goes to both the computer and the fax simultaneously. Here's the important part: if you want your computer to receive the fax first, then go into the msfax options and set the number of rings before the computer picks up to 3. then set the number of rings for the brother fax machine to 4 or 5. this way your computer will always pick up the fax first, and if your computer is off, then your fax machine can still pick up after 5 rings.
