I have an 486 DX2 66 MHz Toshiba-Notebook (MK1003MAV). I want to use it for communicating with my family via email. So I have to connect a modem. Because the built-in trackball is out of order, there is a serial mouse connected to the serial-port (COM1). Other ports available are a parallel port, a video-port (as I think, female 15-poles in 3 rows) and a PS2-port. Because the modem I already bought needs to be connected to COM1, I want to change the mouse to PS2, got an adapter from 9-pole serial to PS2 and plugged it in. The mouse is a 2-button-microsoft-serial-mouse. But it wouldn't work.
Can anyone tell me what to do. The notebook runs at windows for workgroups 3.11.
Please apologize my eventually incorrect use of some english words, but I'm no native speaker.
