I am not sure what model my X'tec scroll genie mouse is, but I had NO PROBLEMS using the driver in Win 98.
I let Win 98 install the mouse at first as it's default (Microsoft 2 button or whatever).
I then ran the program on the supplied floppy disk and re-booted.
Now the proper software is loaded at startup each time I boot. The mouse works very well ... no problems.
Perhaps if you do not have this software, I could e-mail it to you.
