: i was wondering if the motherboard of the new computer would like the hard disk that has been used (and formatted) with an old P120 motherboard..

: ..i would like to put it into a shiny new Athlon XP motherboard but i am obviously hoping that all the files will read and i wont need to reformat it under the new system ...

: is this going to work?

: anyone done such a thing in the past?

: john.

Your old drive should work OK as long as it is drive D: or higher - you should be able to read and transfer all of your files to a new HDD if you like. If you try to use the old HDD as the boot device (C:) you will need to install drivers to match your new mainboard - a bit messy.
