: Hello,

: I need some sources on getting a driver board for my 8.4 Gig Quantum fireball harddrive. I tried quantums website, but no luck. The board attachs (socketed) to 4 pins and has 4 screws that secures the board. The platters are good, but I need a board.

: Thanks, for any help Bill.

If Quantum/Maxtor cannot furnish an exact replacement for your drive electronics then your only alternative will be to find an IDENTICAL HDD and swap the electronics. MIGHT be worth it if you are trying to recover valuable data; PROBABLY a long search to find the EXACT same model that you have. Probably not worth the effort and cost if you just want to make the drive go - just get another 8.4GB HDD and go with it (or get a bigger one if your BIOS supports it).
