: I'm trying to install Win 98 on formated Compaq Presario 4505. It will not boot up with boot disk. goes to C: prompt. I can change it to A: prompt. From there on I need help.

Sounds like you are trying to rebuild your system and it sounds like your HDD is not bootable (format c:/s should have done it). Boot up to your startup floppy that has all the DOS files on it and do a system transfer (at the A: prompt, type "sys c:" without the quotes - that SHOULD transfer your system and make the HDD bootable - and it will unless you have a problem with the boot block on your HDD.

If you are reloading your system from CD you will need DOS level CD support so you can get your CD cranked up. Please post what operating system (and version if win95) - the exact steps depend on what you have to work with - and win95a is different from win95OSR2 (aka win95b and win95c).

Good Luck,
Henry
