I recommend that you stick with FAT32 unless you have a bunch of other PCs running the same NTFS based OS. Reason: NTFS disk drives are not repairable with DOS, and they are difficult to manage and repair when not broken as you are finding out.

If you have any doubts, just imagine a bad sector in the middle of the pagefile - OS won't boot and you can't fix it without hooking up the HDD to another PC (or have the OS installed on another HDD that you can bring in temporarily to fix the main drive - very UGLY unless you plan ahead). Any idea how the xp approval police would help you handle something like that?
