: PLEASE....I need detailed instructions on how to format a NT4 drive (NTFS) to be able to load and boot Windows ME. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The answer depends on what you want to accomplish and it IS NOT entirely clear what you want to accomplish. Do you want a HDD that can be used by EITHER winme OR NT4? Do you want a dual boot system (each OS in its own partition)? Do you want to dump NT4 and go to winme exclusively? Do you want something else? What size HDD are you using?

NT4 can recognize NTFS volumes (drives/partitions) AND FAT16 volumes BUT NOT FAT32 volumes.

winme can recognize FAT16 volumes AND FAT32 volumes, BUT NOT NTFS volumes.

Incidentally, I DO NOT recommend NTFS for the stand alone home user - unless you have access to some more PCs running NT4 or w2k. Reason: virtually impossible to recover or repair an NTFS volume if you have only one PC and one NTFS hard drive.

Please post more details indicating what hardware and software you are running now and what you want to accomplish when your system is configured to meet your desires.

Good Luck,
Henry
