I know that, i managed to solve it before, but i cannot do the same now. I checked the page of the mainboard manufacturer and downloaded the latest upgrade suggested for my board. It didn't help either.

Drive seems to be working proper, cables are working with other healthy drives, and when i use the same power and data cables for my harddisk, disk's light is on, and i can hear and feel it spinning.

I am now using my same PC and using my old (Quantum, 4.3 GB) harddisk. There's no problem with it right now. But i couldn't try my new, problematic harddisk on other computers. I have another pc also, but it is also an old system and has the same problems (old BIOS etc), so that my disk doesn't work with it either.

I will try the disk on a new system and will check to see it's still healthy and doesn't have problems.

Thanks for your help, but i am going more and more desparate about saving my harddisk or all my data on it :(

: HDD size support is a firm BIOS function; changing settings in CMOS Setup SHOULD NOT affect HDD size support. Sounds like the problems you had may have affected your HDD too. Make sure the data cable is connected correctly and the drive is spinning. Suggest that you try your HDD on another computer and, if possible, try a known good HDD on your system.
