: Hello,

: I have a Quantum Fireball harddisk, size 20.5 GB. My computer has Award BIOS, v4.51PG, dated 03/07/2000. I am using Windows 2000 operating system.

: The first time i bought the harddisk, i remember i dealed with the BIOS very much to make it detect the harddisk, and i managed to do that then. I had 3 partitions on the disk, 8192 MB, 8192 MB and 4096 MB.

: However, i had some problems with my computer recently, and the BIOS settings were reset to defaults. Since then the BIOS cannot detect my harddisk. And now I don't remember how i managed to do this in the first time. I have all my personal data on that disk and i don't want to lose them. Can anybody help with this issue, i would appreciate that so much.

: Thanks in advance.

HDD size support is a firm BIOS function; changing settings in CMOS Setup SHOULD NOT affect HDD size support. Sounds like the problems you had may have affected your HDD too. Make sure the data cable is connected correctly and the drive is spinning. Suggest that you try your HDD on another computer and, if possible, try a known good HDD on your system.

Good Luck,
