I have a winbook xl2 laptop with a Hitachi hard drive. I had Windows 98 on the laptop and tried to install corel linux with the install in dos/windows partition option. Everything went fine but when I started linux from the dos command line it started to configure itself and in the middle of that my 2-year-old pulled the power plug out of the wall. When I rebooted it said NO ROM BASIC SYSTEM HALTED. That was bad. I tried to run FDISK but it said error reading fixed disk. I formatted the C:\partition and reinstalled Windows 98 from the cd-rom. Now Windows 98 is working fine on partition c:\. My problem is the hard drive is 6GB and the c:\partition is only 2GB so now I can't access 4GB of hard drive space and I can't delete the partitions because neither the DOS version of FDISK nor the Linux version will work. DOS version says error reading fixed disk while Linux version says error reading /dev/hda: no such file or directory or something to that effect. Is there any thing I can do to get my 4GB of space back?
