Whatever you do, DO NOT (i.e. DO NOT) reformat your hard drive unless you have backed up all your data and other stuff onto disks or some other external backup souce because a reformat will completely clear out your hard disk of everything on it.

Try uninstalling the problem software then reinstalling again to see if that helps, but before you do copy all the personal and other data files for that software to My Documents or some other directory so that you can reinsert your files into the new software installation.

You might first want to try reinstalling on top of the existing installation since much software is very comfortable with this.

Try running Scandisk to automatically sort out some disk problem that you may have.

There are lots of things it could be, and if you can get your hands on a decent registry cleaner, that sometimes sorts it out. You can download a wealth of very usefull software tools (such as registry cleaners)for free from any Shareware or Freeware internet site. Just do an internet search
with the word SHAREWARE and lots of sites will pop up.
