I have a 6.4Gb Quantum Fireball CX drive. It worked well, but suddenly it started to turn off without any understandable reason. Right in the middle of my work!
It sounds like it's "parking" the head-carrier, then spins down the motor (just like when computer goes on stanby), and then spins up the motor again in second. It keeps repeating this off-on cycle again and again. Turning off the PC helps sometimes, but not always: when I turn the power on, this crap starts immediatelly. Surface is not damaged, no data is lost, but this "DJ HDD" makes me nuts! Please HELP!
