Hi,

I purchased a new Maxtor IDE Harddisk(30.7GB) through bidding in an auction at CNET.COM. I installed the disk as a secondary master(I have WD hard disk(4GB) as my primary master) on my PC.

Then I downloaded RANISH partition manager from CNET.com and tried to partition the new disk. Then I found that I am getting partitions of total size 8GB only. I found this to be weird and visited MAXTOR site to download their MAXBLAST tool to partition my new drive. I made the disk to be controlled by EZ-BIOS (thinking that the ROM-BIOS is not supporting BIG DISKS )and formatted the disk.

But still I am getting only small partions which are nowhere near the actual capacity of the disk.

My old disk is having WIN2000 on it and I am planning to use my new disk for loading linux.

Can somebody point out what mistake I am doing and give me some advise to get full potential of my hard disk.

TIA,
Murali
