Ok, this will remove most if not all BIOS/Hard Drive/All types, or passwords from IBM/any machine. I have done this on several makes and models successfully and without dmg. HOWEVER, please THINK and BE CAREFULL. The following procedure can DESTROY your laptop if done incorrectly. 'Nuff said.

Find you BIOS chip (usually labeled =BIOS=) or lookup the schmat from the web. Find the grounding pins. Usually 2 to 6 (yours may (read WILL) vary. Using a 1.5 volt AA battery hooked on a carrier (available at Radio Shack for about $2) run voltage from the lower numbered pin the higher numbered pin for about 30 seconds, if it doesn't work try again for a LITTLE longer till you get it) GET THIS RIGHT! THE POSTIVE + on the LOWER NUMBERED PINT TO THE NEGATIVE - ON THE HIGHER NUMMBERED PIN. This will caused the BIOS to reset to factory specs (BIOS on modern computers has the factory settings saved on a not-as-voltile, voltile ram, on the BIOS chip and the user setting in the regular scratchpad RAM.

DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK! It has worked quite a few times when nothing else worked! I can also recover those locked drives (with a software program) Thanks.!

: Help!!!! Greetings all. Recently I purchased a skid of laptops from a liquidator, and I received a laptop that has a "hard drive" password. It is an IBM 770z Thinkpad. I would sure hate to purchase another drive for this unit. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know, your help would be greatly apprciated. Thanks
