Try getting a copy of WD Lifeguard Software, if the drive still spins the software on it can USUALLY copy even a defective drive's data to a good drive (Even to a non-WD drive, the software will work if at least ONE drive in your system is WD.) GLUCK!

: : I didn't switch off computer for the night and in the morning found out that it's not working. Had problems with booting (monitor showed nothing). Then we disassembled the mashine and were not sure whether it's Motherboard or Processor. After looking at everything closer decided it's motherboard because there were signs of burning on motherboard connector. Amazingly after uplugging and plugging it back computer started to boot but persistently refused to recognize Hard Drive. Of course we were sure that smth is wrong with the motherboard, especially because by some miracle after 100 tries it eventually recognized the HD. But I was stupid not to copy all the data from there.
: : I started to shut computer down after this and was able to access HD for about 3-4 times after that. But then once I left it once more for about 30min machine crashed again.
: : Of course motherboard was the primary suspect. But before buying a new one because I wanted some of my data, one of my friends took my HD and it turned out that other machines do not recognize it either. Moreover my computer does recognize other Hard Drives.
: : It basically means that I've lost my data and the miracle doesn't want to happen again and to let me copy everything else.
: : Any ideas of what can be done? I understand that if I send HD to WD for replacement I'll never see my data again :). I can't afford to pat companies for data restoring...

: : Thanks for all your help
