: I want to use my old hard drive as the second drive in a new system so that I can still use my old data. I do not want to fdisk or format the old drive. The drive is recognized and configured correctly in BIOS as the primary slave. It shows up in device manager but no drive letter is assigned and it does not show up in explorer or DOS. Can anyone tell me if it possible to do this and if so how? I have tried everything I can think of and really need to get this data off the old drive.
: Windows 98SE,
: new drive - 80GB Seagate,
: old drive - 15GB Maxtor,
: both formatted with same Win 98SE.
: Thanks for any help

Does your BIOS recognize the full capacity of your 80 GB HDD? Did you use an "install" program? If you used an install program post again and I will give you some refs to sort out your problem.

Good Luck,
