: Hi,
: Due to BIOS limitation, I cannot install a 40 GB HD.
: I have a Award 4.21 bios. Do I have to upgrade my BIOS or is there a workaround available.
: How difficult is it to upgrade the BIOS.

: thank you,

I don't think a BIOS update will help you much. Seems like Award BIOS dated before about mid 1999 had an upper limit of about 32 GB. I think your BIOS is much older than that.

Suggest that you use an ATA/66 card; it will support HDDs up to about 128 GB. If you can't find ATA/66 then ATA/DMA/33 would be almost as fast as ATA/66 (and lower cost). ATA/100 and ATA/133 will work too but you will not percieve any speed improvement vs ATA/66 and only a little, MAYBE, vs DMA/33.

Good Luck,
